There will be no third season for I Am Cait, its star Caitlyn Jenner revealed online today. The docuseries starring the former Bruce Jenner as she embraced her life as a woman debuted to big ratings of 2.73 million on July 26, 2015 but soon fell off. Its Season 2, which premiered March 6, saw fewer than 500,000 total viewers for some episodes.
An E! spokesperson issued the following statement: “We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of I Am Cait, a groundbreaking docuseries that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs. Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
The show had been birthed after Cait, who was formerly known as Bruce Jenner, had changed her sex and become one of the world’s most popular transgenders. It failed to become a big hit however, drawing only 2.7 million viewers in its season debut and dropping to just above 700,000 viewers in its second season.
